A biometric device is an information technology device that recognises a person based on physical characteristics such as fingerprints, face, retina patterns, irises or veins, wieght and behavioural charcateristics through voice recognition, handwriting or typing rhythm e.t.c.
Biometric devices are use 3 steps which are enrollment, storage and comparison.
Enrollment is when one uses the boimetric device for the first time and his or her information is recorded such as his or her name and ID number. A physical traist is then recorded.
With storage, the whole information retrieved is not saved but instead analysed and then translated into a graph or code. And comparison is when the system measures up the information it has stored with that of which is been presented. And then the biometric device then decides to either accept or reject the individual claiming to be the person of the stored information.
